Mitsuko Yorichika, concert-planner&MC
Born in Hiroshima, Mitsuko Yorichika started learning piano and cello at “The music school for children of
Toho Gakuen” as a child. Surrounded by music since her childhood, her fondness for music kept growing.
After she graduated from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, she entered NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) where she began her career as an announcer who can play piano in a TV program. Later she promoted herself to a newscaster at NHK and Fuji Television. She gained and grew her strong ineterest in communicating with others, and as a music lover and a communicater, combined these two interests into one. Thus, she has started the activity as a concert-planner since ’92 and serves as a guide to encourage general public “music is fun” by linking audience and stage, which has been highly acclaimed by public and others.
Yorichika plans and organizes classical concerts using her special abilities of speaking English and playing the piano, and is working broadly as a master of ceremony (MC) and a writer.
She has worked for many concerts of artists from abroad such as Melanie Holiday, The Berlin Philharmonic Octet, Vermeer Quartet, and Richard Crayderman with whom she appeared on TV.
She serves as one of the head of directors of the Japan Music Foundation.
